Penn State Berks to celebrate spring with sustainability events

WYOMISSING, Pa. — The Penn State Berks Sustainability Council will mark the beginning of spring with a slate of events and activities titled “Celebrating Spring by Springing into Action!” starting on March 20.  

Celebrating Spring and Sustainable Self-Care 

Monday, March 20, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.  

Perkins Student Center Lawn 

The Penn State Berks Sustainability Council is partnering with the Penn State Berks Counseling Services to promote sustainable self-care practices. The event will feature various stations that promote sustainable activities and self-care products and provide information on the harms of self-care waste and ways to reduce waste. The event is free and open to the public.  

“The Story of Plastic” Film Screening  

Tuesday, March 21, 6 p.m.  

Luerssen Science Building, Room 5 

Penn State Berks will screen the Emmy-winning film “The Story of Plastic,” which follows the timeline of how we got to the current global plastic pollution crisis and how the oil and gas industry has successfully manipulated the narrative around it. The film screening is free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.  

In addition, from March 20 to April 2, Penn State Berks will host daily and weekly campus-wide campaigns and pledges to cut its ecological footprint. This is an internal initiative.
