WYOMISSING, Pa. – Lesa Cline-Ransome, an award-winning author of children’s and young adult literature, will give a presentation at Penn State Berks from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023 in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Cline-Ransome, author of picture books and middle-grade novels, is best known for her NAACP Image Award-nominated picture book biography of Harriet Tubman, “Before She Was Harriet” and her middle-grade novel “Finding Langston.” During the presentation, she will discuss the process of creating books for young people, and the role of literature and research in writing. Following the presentation, the Penn State Bookstore will host a book signing in the Perkins Student Center lobby.
Prior to her presentation, Cline-Ransome will visit Reading School District Southern Middle School and Lauer’s Park Elementary School.
The events are co-sponsored by the college’s Howard O. and Jean Beaver Endowment for Guest Lecturers at Berks Campus. They are also supported by the Penn State Berks elementary and early childhood education degree program and the Office of Community Engagement, and the Reading School District Southern Middle School.
