READING, Pa. — Penn State Berks students will prepare and serve dinner to the clients of Opportunity House, the Reading emergency shelter, on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 8, from 4:45–8 p.m. Students volunteer regularly at Opportunity House as part of the college’s commitment to community service.
Opportunity House has been helping the homeless population of Reading since November 1984 and has expanded to include an emergency shelter, a 24/7 childcare and learning center, services from the Children's Alliance Center, assistance for veterans, and reuse and recycle services that reinvest funds back into the agency in order to further support their mission and services.
This event is coordinated by Autumn Fritz, assistant director of community development, along with students from the Berks Cares community-service student organization. For more information, contact Fritz at 610-396-6098 or via email at AMR[email protected].
