Penn State Berks recognizes students at Scholastic Awards Ceremony

A total of 45 Penn State Berks students received recognition for their scholarly accomplishments at the University Scholastic Awards Ceremony on April 6.

READING, Pa. — Penn State Berks students received recognition for their scholarly accomplishments at the University Scholastic Awards Ceremony on April 6. Forty-five students were honored with awards, which included the Evan Pugh Scholars Award, the President Sparks Award and the President’s Freshman Award.

The Evan Pugh Scholars Award is presented to juniors and seniors who are in the upper 0.5 percent of their classes and have completed at least 48 graded Penn State credits at the end of the fall semester of the academic year the award is given. Candidates are eligible if they have been full-time undergraduate students for at least four semesters prior to selection. The juniors and seniors this year have cumulative GPAs of 3.98 and above. Students receiving this award included juniors James Hampton, Jessalyn C. Rohrbaugh, Breanna L. Schmidt, Martin J. Sedlock and Habib A. Yazgi; and seniors Michael A. Bianco, Morgan R. Buchanan, Luke W. Fry, Elizabeth C. Leiby, Megan N. Olsen, Adriana Perez Camacho and Laura R. Post.

The President Sparks Award is presented to those undergraduate degree candidates who have earned a 4.00 cumulative GPA based on at least 36 graded Penn State credits completed by the end of the fall semester of the academic year the award is given. Candidates are eligible for this award if they have not exceeded 59 total credits. Students receiving this award included Zoey T. Gillespie, Kathy R. Giorgi, Cindy Jiang, Jennifer Maxwell, Jillian M. Morello, Brandon D. Schwark, Matthew G. Thomas and Julian P. Warner.

The President’s Freshman Award is presented to undergraduate degree candidates and provisional students who have earned a 4.00 cumulative GPA based on at least 12 graded Penn State credits completed by the end of the fall semester of the academic year the award is given. Candidates are eligible for this award if they have not exceeded 35 total credits earned. Students receiving this award included Trent C. Barbusca, Jordan T. Bascome, Amy N. Bauman, Hunter M. Beane, Lauren B. Blank, Brianna R. Diefenbach, Asher C. Fair, Amanda L. Hauser, Carmen A. Hernandez, Juan Miguel R. Hingada, Yue Li, Argenysse Raia G. Marcelino, Harrison G. Myer, Shawn P. Nase, Nha Nguyen, Lucrezia Pulcini, Karina R. Raykova, Calen D. Reigner, Lauren Rickards, Serena A. Schade, Olivia H. Schmeck, Dylan L. Schoemaker, Hanna R. Templin, Shu Wei and Kyle L. Yang.
