Supervision Essentials™ at Penn State Berks

A leadership competency series for new and upcoming frontline supervisors.

Research suggests that today's workforce is more spread out; more independent, and more diverse than ever. More than ever the success of a supervisor, seasoned manager, or senior leader, depends on: effectively engaging diverse team members; staying connected with employees regardless of locale; creating accountability; while displaying emotional intelligence in the process.

Penn State offers a Supervisor Development program that provides the knowledge and skills needed to lead today's employees effectively. The four courses include:

  • Course # 2: Managing Employee Performance
  • Course # 3: Solving Problems and Managing Priorities
  • Course # 4: Developing Individuals and Team

Facilitator: Tom Blaisse has more than 30 years of experience in the classroom and brings a wealth of knowledge from a variety of industries, including pharmaceuticals, banking, manufacturing, finance, technology, health care and government. Through the ‘90’s, as a Senior Consultant for Franklin Covey Co., Tom presented more than 1800 seminars to more than 50,000 participants on the topics of Time Management, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, and other related topics.
