FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is the standard application process to receive federal financial aid. If you are a PA resident and complete the FAFSA, you automatically apply for PHEAA's state grant. Additionally, Penn State uses information from the FAFSA to determine eligibility for need based scholarships and grants. New and returning students should complete the FAFSA before the deadlines posted below.
First Year Students
Students currently applying to Penn State can complete the FAFSA4caster. If you’re not ready to apply for federal student aid, but you’d like to
estimate your aid, try the FAFSA4caster. It is an early eligibility estimator that can help you plan ahead when it comes to paying for college.
