Prospective students and their families are invited to a visitation program at Penn State Berks on Saturday, Oct. 8, in the Perkins Student Center, located just off Broadcasting Road in Wyomissing. The event is part of the University's "Penn State Day," in which Penn State campuses throughout the state host visitation programs during the months of September and October. Attendees must register in advance.
Penn State Berks alumni and family members of students are invited to the college’s annual Family and Homecoming Weekend, Friday, Oct. 7, to Sunday, Oct. 9. This year’s theme is "Home Sweet Homecoming."
As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, Penn State Berks will hold its 10th annual Latino Forum from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This special event is free and open to students from all Berks County high schools, as well as members of the local Hispanic and Latino community. There will also be a virtual option. Advanced registration is required.
The ninth annual Guts and Glory Digestive and Wellness Expo will be held on Sept. 24, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Penn State Berks. The expo was founded by the nonprofit My Gut Instinct and is sponsored by Penn State Health St. Joseph.
Penn State Berks baccalaureate degree program in mechanical engineering has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. The degree program has been accredited by ABET since 2016.
Beginning in mid-September, Penn State Berks will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of events; each event is intended for a specific audience, including prospective and current students, the campus community, and the general public. Some events will be held in-person and others will have virtual options.
Penn State Berks has partnered with the Berks County Suicide Prevention Task Force to present a screening of the film "Wake UP: Stories from the Frontlines of Suicide Prevention" in honor of Suicide Prevention Awareness Month this September. The film screening will be in Perkins Student Center Auditorium on Wednesday, Sept. 21. Admission is free and open to the public.
Shaquem Griffin was born just minutes after his twin brother, Shaquill. Both boys went on to become remarkable athletes in high school and college at the University of Central Florida, and both have played in the NFL after being drafted by the same team — the only difference is Shaquem Griffin did it all with just one hand. He will share his inspirational story at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium at Penn State Berks. This event is free and open to the public.
In an effort to better serve its adult student learners, Penn State Berks has launched the Adult Learner Peer Mentor Program in the fall 2022 semester. The program seeks to enhance and enrich adult education by pairing seasoned and academically successful adult learners with incoming adult students.
Leaders from around the commonwealth gathered at Penn State Berks on Friday, Aug. 26, to celebrate the dedication of the newly renovated and expanded Beaver Athletics and Wellness Center. President Neeli Bendapudi was on hand to mark the culmination of the $30 million project, which revamped the original structure into a 76,000-square-foot modern facility designed to support academic programs and recreational activities.
