Penn State Berks celebrates National Engineers Week, Feb. 17-21

Penn State Berks is celebrating its history while preparing students for the future through National Engineers Week events and activities, to be held Feb. 17 to 21. While the college’s roots in engineering date back to 1927, Penn State has offered engineering degrees for more than 125 years.

Penn State Libraries researchers focus on findings that benefit society

Faculty librarians conduct scholarly research across disciplines and with far-reaching impacts. Penn State University Libraries faculty librarians’ research is not only impactful, it is highly productive, as evidenced by a study published in the July 2023 issue of College & Research Libraries, the official, peer-reviewed scholarly research journal of the Association of College and Research Libraries.

Penn State Berks celebrates Lunar New Year on Feb. 15 with dance performance

On Saturday, Feb. 15, Penn State Berks will hold a Lunar New Year celebration with a live performance of the traditional Asian art form of the Lion Dance by Gong Lung (Steel Dragon) Kung Fu and Lion and Dragon Dance in the Perkins Student Center. There will also be a presentation on Asian culture, an opportunity for questions and answers, activities like face painting and light refreshments. This free event runs from 1 to 4 p.m., and is open to the public.

Penn State Berks expands DEIB efforts with new Office of Inclusive Excellence

As a college that has always provided a welcoming environment for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, from serving as home to international students from 29 different countries, to numerous clubs and organizations that create a community for students of various backgrounds and identities, to events that celebrate the many cultures of its community, Penn State Berks has announced the newly established Office of Inclusive Excellence.

Penn State Berks establishes chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma

Penn State Berks has been accepted into the National College Athlete Honor Society as the Pennsylvania Beta Pi Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma (XAΣ), which recognizes student-athletes from accredited four-year NCAA, NAIA, USCAA or NCCAA institutions who excel in both the classroom and competition.

Flemming CEED Center announces Innovation and Business Idea Challenge winners

From an aquatic robot that will remove pollution from the ocean to apps that help students connect and learn, winners of the Penn State Berks Flemming CEED Center Innovation and Business Idea Challenge developed creative and impactful solutions to address significant local and global challenges. The three winning teams were each awarded a $1,000 "IMAGINE Your Business" grant, funded by the County of Berks "Imagine Berks" Fund.

Penn State Berks holds Sustainability Expo, open to the public

In December, Penn State Berks hosted its Sustainability Expo, "Connecting Campus and Community," organized and curated by Mahsa Kazempour, associate professor of science education and sustainability council chair. The expo showcased community effort from around Berks County including that of Penn State Berks students, Alvernia University students and organizations around the area.
