WYOMISSING, Pa. -- Penn State Berks student Chad Harris, a senior majoring in professional writing, recently attended the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) National Assembly in Portland, Oregon, from April 4 to 7. During the assembly, he was part of a team that won PRSSA’s Day of Competition, which involved creating a public relations plan for the Portland Chinatown Museum.

Harris explained that the public relations campaign centered on ways to attract a younger demographic to the museum’s membership without increasing expenses. In addition to the competition, Harris also had an opportunity to vote for PRSSA’s new national committee and participate in workshops about diversity and inclusion.

"The assembly was an amazing experience for me and to be part of helping shape the future of PRSSA was something that I'll remember forever,” stated Harris, who wrote an article about his experience that will be published in PRSSA’s national online publication, Progressions, at the end of April.

Harris is currently completing an internship at the Lehigh Valley IronPigs baseball team as part of their game-day staff.

The Public Relations Student Society of America helps students gain the experience and practical knowledge employers are seeking. PRSSA can connect students to a network of peers and professionals who will become lifelong friends and mentors.
