WYOMISSING, Pa. — Earning a degree may help you to achieve career advancement and enhance your professional skills; however, it can be difficult for adults to juggle their family responsibilities and careers. Penn State Berks wants to help you achieve your goals. The Office of Continuing Education will hold a virtual adult learner information session beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. Attendees must register in advance and then they will receive an email with Zoom information.

This comprehensive session will provide adult learners with information on the college’s 20 baccalaureate degree programs, four associate degrees, and certificate programs, as well as noncredit courses and alternative options. Representatives will be available to answer questions on admissions, academic advising, financial aid, student learning support and career services.

In addition, program chairs will be in attendance to highlight two specific academic pathways that are flexible for the adult learner:

  • Bachelor of Science in Organizational Leadership (OLEAD), an accelerated degree program specifically designed with the adult learner in mind. The flexible course schedule offers convenience, while providing an excellent level of education.
  • Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, offered in response to demand for graduates with degrees in the hospitality industry.

Jamie McCallicher, a current adult student, commented, “Being an adult-learner in hospitality management at Penn State Berks has allowed me to work full-time while attending classes. I am able to schedule my classes around my demanding, and often complicated, work schedule. The professors encourage me not only as a Penn State student, but also understand that I can bring valuable life lessons to the classroom setting.”
