Berks Student Activities

The Campus Life Office coordinates or collaborates with student organizations to produce a wide variety of events designed to enhance the collegiate experience.

Social Events

Whether the Campus Activities Board (CAB) or another of our more than 30 clubs on campus sponsors, students can always find an opportunity for involvement.  Regularly run events include the Laugh Out Loud comedy series, featuring nationally renowned comics; Jitters coffeehouses featuring slam poetry, music and more; and Berks Movie Night, which features the newest movies at the cheapest rates. Additionally, throughout the year, clubs sponsor various talent shows, diversity celebrations, history performances, dance parties, political drives or debates.

Trips

Student organizations, CAB and other offices within Student Affairs sponsor trips at various points throughout the year to such places as Washington, D.C., New York City, Six Flags Great Adventure, Eastern State Penitentiary, and various local sporting events.  Additionally, groups sponsor nights out around Berks County in order to rock climb, hike, play laser tag and more!

Cultural Events

The Campus Life Office, in conjunction with Student Affairs, sponsors a variety of cultural events throughout the year which explore many cultures throughout the world.  Past performances have brought jazz, Ecuadorian culture, Caribbean music, African story-telling, Islamic heritage and Latino music.

Lectures

The Campus Life Office also sponsors the Penn State Berks Lecture Series, which annually brings world-renowned researchers and popular figures to campus.  Included in the past have been environmentalist E.O. Wilson, anthropologist Donald Johanson, author Rebecca Walker, political commentator Paul Begala, television personalities from Mythbusters; anthropologist Wade Davis, actor and activist Mike Farrell and educator Joe Clark (whose life is the basis for Lean on Me).

Special Events

Various special events take place throughout the year.  Salute to Senior programs, "I'm Moving to University Park," New Student Orientation, and Family Weekend all run through the Campus Life Office.
