Penn State Berks will host its annual Unity Day celebration — the largest diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging event at the college — from 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6, on the Perkins Student Center lawn. This year’s theme is “Building Memories through Community.” All Unity Day activities are free and open to the public.
Beginning in mid-September, Penn State Berks will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a variety of events; each event is intended for a specific audience, including prospective and current students, the campus community, and the general public. Members of the general public must register in advance.
Penn State Berks officially welcomed its sixth leader when Radha Pyati assumed the role of chancellor and dean of Penn State Berks, effective July 1, following a national search. Formerly dean of the College of the Sciences and Mathematics at West Chester University, Pyati is an accomplished researcher, teacher, chemist, author, award-winning environmentalist, and a leader in STEM education.
A Penn State Berks team, comprised of one student, three staff and three faculty members, participated in the Summer Institute on Equity in the Academic Experience hosted by the American Talent Initiative (ATI) and Georgetown University. This three-day institute was held virtually with various colleges and universities offering local convening opportunities.
Penn State Berks senior Lestine Paye has had quite the journey to get to where she is today. From the outside looking in, it seems as though she’s done it all with ease. In just a few weeks, she’ll graduate with her bachelor’s degree in business with a focus on marketing and management, and a minor in entrepreneurship and innovation. For her, the challenges she’s faced have deeply influenced her personal and professional development.
In honor of National Foreign Language Week, Tully’s Dining Center at Penn State Berks will feature cuisine from different geographic areas from March 13-17. The program is open to Penn State Berks students, faculty, and staff and the local community. Meals are available for purchase a la carte at Tully’s, located in the Perkins Student Center.
Penn State Berks will host its first Queen Gala, an event in honor of and celebration of International Women of Color Day and Women’s History Month, on Wednesday, March 1, at 6 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room.
