Five dancers and a busload of their supporters from the Penn State Berks community traveled to Penn State University Park campus to participate in THON during the weekend of Feb. 17-19. As a result of the 46-hour dance marathon and a year of fundraising efforts, Berks benefiting THON contributed $62,531.35, ranking third among Penn State campuses. THON raised a grand total of $10,045,478.44 million for the Four Diamonds Fund.
Excitement is building as the Penn State Berks community prepares for the FIRST Lego League Challenge, set to run from 8 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. on Jan. 21 in the Penn State Berks Perkins Student Center. In the competition, fourth- through eighth-graders will be immersed in real-world science and technology challenges.
In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, Jan. 16, Penn State Berks students will be volunteering in the local community and participating in a “Stand for State” bystander intervention training on campus.
Penn State Berks will host a banquet in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. on Jan. 24. The event will be held in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room; doors open at 5 p.m., with dinner at 5:30 p.m. Attendance is free for the campus community but attendees must have a ticket in advance and seating is limited.
