Penn State Berks to host Earth Day event, tree planting, City Nature Challenge

Spring has sprung at Penn State Berks, and the college’s Sustainability Council will host its annual Earth Day celebration on Monday, April 21. Later that week, on April 23, the Sustainability Council will plant trees donated by PepsiCo in the student commuter parking lot. Then, Penn State Berks will host an event with Berks County's Parks and Recreation Department as part of the City Nature Challenge on Sunday, April 27. 

Penn State Berks hosts evening exploring the power of AI on April 16

In celebration of AI Week, Penn State Berks will host an evening exploring the transformative power of AI for small- to medium-sized businesses on Wednesday, April 16, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The event will be held in the Flemming Creativity, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (CEED) Center, located within the Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building. Cost is $20 for dinner (exact payment accepted at the door) and is free for Penn State students with ID. All attendees must register in advance.

Penn State Berks to send four dancers to THON 2025, hosts send-off event

Penn State Berks is showing support for the members of Berks Benefitting THON who are representing the college at THON, the University’s dance marathon which benefits families battling pediatric cancer. There will be a dancer send-off from noon to 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 20, in Perkins Student Center Lion’s Den. The campus community will gather to wish the dancers and co-overall chairs well, and the send-off will be open to the public. Philly Pretzel Factory’s Muhlenberg site will provide free soft pretzels for attendees.

Penn State Berks celebrates National Engineers Week, Feb. 17-21

Penn State Berks is celebrating its history while preparing students for the future through National Engineers Week events and activities, to be held Feb. 17 to 21. While the college’s roots in engineering date back to 1927, Penn State has offered engineering degrees for more than 125 years.

Penn State Berks celebrates Lunar New Year on Feb. 15 with dance performance

On Saturday, Feb. 15, Penn State Berks will hold a Lunar New Year celebration with a live performance of the traditional Asian art form of the Lion Dance by Gong Lung (Steel Dragon) Kung Fu and Lion and Dragon Dance in the Perkins Student Center. There will also be a presentation on Asian culture, an opportunity for questions and answers, activities like face painting and light refreshments. This free event runs from 1 to 4 p.m., and is open to the public.

Top student teams awarded $4,500 in first phase of Nittany AI Challenge

Fifteen student teams using artificial intelligence (AI) to make the world a better place have been awarded a total of $4,500 ($300 each) in the Prototype Phase of the Nittany AI Challenge. This year’s Nittany AI Challenge includes new partners and resources providing even more opportunities for student success.
