Working through the Penn State Corporate Engagement Center, Barnes & Noble College has awarded $165,000 in grants to support 11 initiatives across the University. The grants support a range of colleges, campuses and units to advance programs where Penn State and Banes & Noble share mutual interest.
In alignment with the recent announcement from the White House on federal vaccination requirements, all Penn State employees at all locations are now subject to a federal COVID-19 vaccination requirement. The deadline for employees to receive their final dose of a vaccine is Jan. 4, 2022

The Penn State Office for General Education has announced the selection of seven Penn State faculty who will serve as new advisers and program leaders and will help to build high-impact teaching and learning practices in general education across the institution. The seven new members will serve three-year terms as part of a team of 16 general education faculty scholars.
In a move designed to limit the spread of COVID-19 on Penn State campuses, the union representing about 2,600 technical service employees, has agreed to follow University requirements for mask-wearing, regardless of vaccination status. The agreement goes into effect immediately.
Due to the rapidly evolving COVID-19 conditions around the country and in Pennsylvania, effective immediately (Aug. 4), Penn State will require all students, faculty, staff and visitors — including those who are vaccinated and unvaccinated — to wear masks indoors at all campuses. Cara Exten, an assistant nursing professor and infectious disease epidemiologist, studies the occurrence and spread of infectious diseases in populations over time. She put her nearly 20 years of epidemiology experience to the test by helping the University create and execute a COVID-19 testing and contact tracing initiative.
Penn State has announced plans to transition its masking and physical distancing requirements on June 28 to more closely align with changes recently announced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Pennsylvania Department of Health that relax COVID-19 restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals.
Penn State Berks Chancellor George Grant Jr. recently announced the appointment of Todd A. Migliaccio as the associate dean for academic affairs following a national search. Migliaccio will begin his appointment on July 15, 2021.
