In an effort to better serve the needs of its student body, Penn State Berks has entered into an agreement with Lyft, which allows the college to provide free, convenient (and carbon-neutral) rides for students. It’s called Penn State Berks Emergency Rides 2026, and it’s set up through Lyft’s pass program. The agreement was coordinated through Penn State’s Office of Transportation Services and it allows Penn State Berks to tailor the parameters to meet student needs.
A growing area of instruction and programming in educational library services, privacy literacy emphasizes making informed choices about managing one’s personal information and understanding its role in the information ecosystem. Earlier this year, three Penn State faculty convened a national initiative called Libraries Stand for Privacy and now are seeking feedback on its resulting educational resources.
In an effort to support children and their families in the fight against pediatric cancer, Penn State Berks Benefitting THON student organization will host its ninth annual "Inspire the Night" Benefit Dinner from 6 to 10 p.m., Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, at the Redner’s Event Center at the Reading Fightin Phils First Energy Stadium.
Emma Pehote, student marshal for the Penn State Berks fall commencement ceremony, will give a speech titled “Life Is Not Linear,” a reflection of her journey which has led her to earn a bachelor’s degree in integrative science with a minor in psychology. The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Santander Arena in downtown Reading.
Student teams and community entrepreneurs were recognized for creativity and drive when Penn State Berks hosted the Berks Innovation Awards Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 14. The winning students and entrepreneurs were awarded "IMAGINE Your Business" grants, funded by the County of Berks "Imagine Berks" Fund. For the first time, one ceremony was held for both competitions and the event was co-sponsored by the college’s Flemming Creativity, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Center and Berks LaunchBox.
A new class of more than 100 Penn State Berks students will receive their baccalaureate and associate degrees and practical nursing certificates at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Santander Arena in downtown Reading, when Berks hosts its fall 2025 commencement ceremony. Patrick J. Dolan, president of Dolan Construction Inc. and chair of the Penn State Berks Advisory Board, will deliver the keynote address.
During finals week, Penn State University Libraries offers stress-reducing games and activities to help students relax as they study for finals and complete end-of-semester projects.
The Penn State Berks Science Division will present a lecture titled “The Science of Curiosity,” a genre-bending exploration of curiosity’s powerful capacity to connect ideas and people. The lecture will be presented by Dani S. Bassett, co-author of “Curious Minds: The Power of Connection,” written with their twin, Perry Zurn. A reception will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 3, in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room, followed by the lecture beginning at 4:45 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.
Penn State will celebrate its 11th GivingTuesday on Dec. 2 — and Penn State Berks invites alumni and friends to be a part of the event by making a gift to support Thun Library.
Penn State Berks will host the third annual Sustainability Expo: "Connecting Campus and Community, From Silos to Synergy," sponsored by the Penn State Berks Sustainability Council, on Monday, Dec. 1, from noon to 4 p.m. in the Beaver Athletics and Wellness Center Lobby. The event is free and open to the public.
