A comprehensive new scholarship program for academically outstanding Penn State Berks undergraduates, the Cohen-Hammel Fellows Program is designed to prepare students to become engaged and ethical leaders in the 21st century.
The Resilient Resumes team took third place in the Nittany AI Challenge, held at Penn State University Park campus on September 10, 2019. The team received $5,000 from Nittany AI Alliance for their web application designed to walk the user through the resume creation process.
This year, three Penn State Berks students received the University’s prestigious Erickson Discovery Grant for summer 2019, through the Office of Undergraduate Education. The grants allowed them to conduct research over the summer in the field, lab or studio.
For Shivansh Bhatt, attending Penn State Berks was not part of the plan. An international student born in India and raised in Dubai, Bhatt had originally applied to University Park to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
When Bridget Baksa first came to Penn State Berks to study information sciences and technology, she said it was a “big step for her and a big learning curve.” But by challenging herself academically and personally, she found more than she could have hoped for.

Ethan Adams, a Penn State Berks junior with a double major in information sciences and technology, and security and risk analysis, is the first recipient of the Simplr Artificial Intelligence Technology Scholarship.
