New Student Orientation - Timeline

New Student Orientation - Timeline

The NSO program is for all new first-year incoming Penn State Berks students.

For students beginning Fall or Summer:

Beginning March 1 you will receive information via email to take the ALEKS math assessment. This assessment is used to determine placement in Math and Chemistry courses. So, it is important! You do not want to be in a position where you are taking classes that do not count towards your degree. Take the test seriously and take your time. You should allow yourself 2-3 hours to complete the assessment. Appropriate math placement is important!

Beginning April 1, after completing the ALEKS assessment, you will receive an email invitation to schedule NSO.

Seven days prior to your NSO date you will receive an email about completing Pre-NSO homework.

Mid to late June, you will attend a one-day all-day NSO program at Penn State Berks! When you receive notification to choose your date, please do so as early as possible. The sooner you schedule, the more courses you will have to choose from for your Fall schedule. If there is an unforeseen emergency that prevents you from making your NSO day, please contact the Academic Advising Center at 610-396-6280 and go into the reservation system to schedule a new date.
