A diverse group of faculty members at Penn State Berks have come together to collaborate on creative ways to use technology to transform the classroom. Founded in spring 2018, the Teaching and Learning with Technology Faculty Learning Community for Innovative Instructional Technology in the Classroom has been looking critically at how they can help foster innovative strategies for teaching and learning.
Scores of United Way volunteers descended on Penn State Berks on June 14 and 15 to participate in United Way's "Big Cheese 5" event. More than 1,000 volunteers will package 500,000 meals (mac-and-cheese and rice and beans) over the two-day event.

Toby Welk was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in the 21st round of the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Welk was the second Division III player to be taken in the 2019 draft.
Penn State Berks' Organizational Leadership degree is a 123-credit degree program developed specifically for adult learners (age 24 and older) who are interested in pursuing a well-rounded, liberal arts education with a focus on complex social cultural, and organizational issues.
Cheryl Nicholas, associate professor of communication arts and sciences at Penn State Berks, was recently appointed to the Penn State President’s Commissions for Equity. She will serve as co-chair for the Commission on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Equity for Penn State, along with Brian J. Patchcoski, director of the LGBTQA Student Resource Center.
Penn State Berks students Jess Rozick and Brianna Smith received more honors for their phenomenal performances in the 2019 softball season by earning spots on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association teams. Rozick was selected to the second team and Smith was named to the third team.
The Berks LaunchBox will hold a series of open house events dubbed “Tinker Tuesdays” throughout the months of June and July, with the first scheduled for June 4.
With a focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) related fields, students attending Penn State Berks High School Discovery Camps will learn about various career fields, the world around them and themselves.
