Student teams and community entrepreneurs were recognized for creativity and drive when Penn State Berks hosted the Berks Innovation Awards Ceremony on Friday, Nov. 14. The winning students and entrepreneurs were awarded "IMAGINE Your Business" grants, funded by the County of Berks "Imagine Berks" Fund. For the first time, one ceremony was held for both competitions and the event was co-sponsored by the college’s Flemming Creativity, Entrepreneurship and Economic Development Center and Berks LaunchBox.
A new class of more than 100 Penn State Berks students will receive their baccalaureate and associate degrees and practical nursing certificates at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, at the Santander Arena in downtown Reading, when Berks hosts its fall 2025 commencement ceremony. Patrick J. Dolan, president of Dolan Construction Inc. and chair of the Penn State Berks Advisory Board, will deliver the keynote address.
During finals week, Penn State University Libraries offers stress-reducing games and activities to help students relax as they study for finals and complete end-of-semester projects.
The Penn State Berks Science Division will present a lecture titled “The Science of Curiosity,” a genre-bending exploration of curiosity’s powerful capacity to connect ideas and people. The lecture will be presented by Dani S. Bassett, co-author of “Curious Minds: The Power of Connection,” written with their twin, Perry Zurn. A reception will be held at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 3, in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room, followed by the lecture beginning at 4:45 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.
Penn State will celebrate its 11th GivingTuesday on Dec. 2 — and Penn State Berks invites alumni and friends to be a part of the event by making a gift to support Thun Library.
Penn State Berks will host the third annual Sustainability Expo: "Connecting Campus and Community, From Silos to Synergy," sponsored by the Penn State Berks Sustainability Council, on Monday, Dec. 1, from noon to 4 p.m. in the Beaver Athletics and Wellness Center Lobby. The event is free and open to the public.
The Berks LaunchBox powered by Penn State has announced seven recipients of its IMAGINE Your Business grant, designed to help early-stage entrepreneurs accelerate their business growth. The program awards up to $2,000 to assist startups with prototyping, marketing, product development and other essential business expenses.
The Berks LaunchBox powered by Penn State recently announced the winners of its Idea TestLab Pitch Competition in an award ceremony held on Nov. 5. Renaissance Labs earned first place, HT Organic Solutions took second place, and Heintz Tax Service placed third. In addition, this year’s Advisor’s Spotlight Award was presented to Jen Kutchner and Ruby Rodriguez of the Gilded Page.
