The Learning Center at Penn State Berks provides free one-on-one, in-person tutoring for all Penn State Berks students, offering personalized support to help you succeed academically. Our experienced tutors provide personalized support, whether you are struggling with a subject or looking to deepen your understanding. Peer tutoring begins the second week of each semester, and you can schedule an appointment online to meet with a tutor in person.

Services Offered

  • Peer and professional tutoring in math
  • Peer tutoring in chemistry, biology, physics, and more
  • Exam preparation, course materials, help with assignments, and study strategies.
  • Walk-in faculty tutoring in math and statistics (Math 141 and below).
    • Dr. Ryan Hassler fall 2025 walk-in hours:
      Monday: Noon to 2:00 p.m.
      Tuesday and Thursday: 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.

Maximize Your Tutoring Session

  • Schedule appointments early, especially during busy times like midterms and finals.
  • Know what topics or assignments you need help with and bring all relevant materials.
  • Arrive early to give yourself time to organize and focus on what you want to cover.
  • Share your goals and questions with your tutor and ask for specific help.
  • Work through problems and ask for other examples if needed.
  • Listen to your tutor’s advice and apply it to future work.
  • Decide what you want to work on next, and
  • Review material on your own and schedule follow-up sessions if necessary.
  • Visit your faculty during office hours to clarify any remaining questions or concerns.

If the Learning Center does not offer tutoring in a particular class:

We suggest that you reach out to your instructor either before/after class, or during office hours, or form a study group with your classmates.
