Learning Center services are FREE and open to all students currently enrolled in courses at Penn State Berks.
All in-person tutoring sessions are held in the Learning Center in 159 Franco (enter through 161 Franco).
You can book one 30-minute tutoring session per subject each day. If you need help with different subjects, you can have multiple sessions in one day.
The Learning Center is open for tutoring Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (tutoring available until 1:00 pm). During these hours, the center is also available for general use. Feel free to use the center for independent or group study, homework, or review material on your own.
Do not wait until you are struggling; get tutoring early and often. It works best as regular support to help you keep up and understand the material, not just as a last-minute fix before a test.
Yes! Yes! Tutoring is not just for students who are struggling. It can help you sharpen your skills, explore topics more deeply, and keep improving, even if you are already doing well.
It is best to book your tutoring or coaching sessions in advance, especially during busy periods like midterms or finals. To make an appointment:
For professional math tutoring, walk-in sessions are available with no appointment needed. Check the Learning Center hours to see when these are offered.
You can also visit the Learning Center without an appointment, but immediate help is not guaranteed.
If tutoring isn't available for your class, we recommend speaking with your instructor before or after class, or during office hours. You can also form a study group with classmates to help each other understand the material.
Log in to the Learning and Writing Center website and add your name to the waitlist. Click the clock icon next to the desired day on the schedule, fill out the form, and we will notify you if a time slot opens.
Cancel appointments as early as possible by signing into the Learning Center website and clicking “cancel appointment.” If you do not cancel before your scheduled time, it will be marked as a no-show. Three no-shows within the academic year will deactivate your account, preventing you from scheduling further appointments.
