WYOMISSING, Pa. — After turning in a stellar debut season, Latrell Carroll was named the D3hoops.com East Region Rookie of the Year, as announced by the organization on Monday afternoon.
Carroll, who was also named the NEAC Rookie of the Year, is the first member in program history to earn the recognition from D3Hoops.com.
The Penn State Berks freshman forward ranked second in the NEAC in total rebounds (246) and rebounds per game (11.2), while ranking third in the conference for points per game (19.3), field goals made (167) and fourth in field goal percentage (59.2 percent) during the regular season. Carroll also ranked among the top-10 in the NEAC in points (424) and blocks (23). Carroll recorded a double-double in 15 of the 22 contests that he played in this season. He scored 10 or more points in 19 contests and had 20 or more points on 12 occasions. Carroll had 10 rebounds in 16 games and had 15 or more five times.
Carroll set the single-season school record with his 59.2 percent field-goal percentage (167-of-282) and finished with the second most rebounds in a season (246). He made the third most free throws in a season with 83, while his 19.3 scoring average is the fourth highest ever and his 167 field goals made are tied for fifth best. Carroll ranked eighth in points scored with 424.
