READING, Pa. — Penn State Berks will hold its Unity Day celebration, an annual Penn State event that helps bring students, faculty, staff and community members together to celebrate diversity, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19.

Activities will take place under the tent at the Perkins Plaza, rain or shine. All Unity Day activities are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served featuring cuisine from different world regions.

This year's theme is "Berks United." The event will begin with opening remarks by Chancellor R. Keith Hillkirk, followed by entertainment provided by students. Then student organizations and faculty/staff offices will put forth their best display of a united Berks community. There will be a parade of flags from different countries and a rainbow flag.

This event is sponsored by Penn State Berks Diversity Committee and funded by the Student Activities Fee. For more information on Unity Day, contact Sharon Pitterson-Ogaldez, coordinator of diversity and international programs, at 610-396-6080 or [email protected].
