Penn State University Police and Public Safety has appointed Iris Richardson as the department’s first director of diversity, equity and inclusion, following a national search that began in 2019.
The Multicultural Resource Center at Penn State has announced this year’s Senior and Faculty/Staff Diversity Recognition Awards recipients. The 2020 awards honor multicultural University Park graduating seniors who excel in academics, leadership, and service, as well as faculty and staff throughout Penn State who demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion efforts beyond the responsibilities of their position.
Penn State Berks will hold its Unity Day celebration, an annual Penn State event that helps bring students, faculty, staff and community members together to celebrate diversity, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27.
Theodore Ogaldez will give a presentation on Belize with assistance from Sharon Pitterson-Ogaldez, coordinator of Diversity and International Programs at Penn State Berks. The event will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 22.

In celebration of International Education Week, Penn State Berks will hold a Diversity Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 16, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Lions Den. This event is free and open to Penn State Berks students, faculty and staff.
Students from Penn State Berks, Abington and Lehigh Valley learned lessons in entrepreneurship from Aniyia Williams, who gave a talk at Berks on Oct. 11.
This year, the Penn State Berks Alternative Spring Break program will take a group of seven Penn State Berks students and two staff advisers to Kraków and Oswiecim, Poland, where they will spend the week of March 4-11 focusing on remembrance and preservation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau Holocaust site.
