Insurance
Penn State requires full-time U.S. students to submit their health insurance coverage information at the beginning of each academic year. If students do not have health insurance coverage, they will be able to note that on the form.
If you do not have health insurance or are not adequately covered at the campus you attend, we strongly encourage you to consider purchasing the SHIP for Penn State.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the Student Health Insurance office at University Park by calling 814-865-4847 and selecting Option 6, or learn more about submitting your health insurance information online »
International students and any accompanying dependents are required to purchase the SHIP for Penn State or submit proof of health insurance coverage that meets the full set of requirements. Learn more about health insurance for international students >
Students who do not take action to waive or enroll through LionPATH by the deadline will be automatically enrolled in the SHIP for Penn State and the health insurance premium will be charged to their student account.
Immunization
Immunizations offer safe and effective protection from vaccine-preventable diseases. The United States is experiencing re-emergence of many diseases, in part due to factors such as non-immunized and under-immunized persons and global travel. Penn State, along with University Health Services, strongly supports the use of vaccines to protect the health of individual students and the campus community as a whole.
Immunization requirements are applicable to all incoming students at University Park and Commonwealth Campuses, with the exception of Great Valley and World Campus. If you do not comply with Penn State’s immunization requirement a registration hold will be applied to your LionPATH account restricting all future enrollment activity.
All incoming undergraduate and graduate students must submit proof of immunizations prior to their arrival on campus.
