Penn State Berks Flemming CEED Center to host upcycling workshop

The Penn State Berks Flemming Creativity, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development (CEED) Center will host the “Innovate to Renovate” upcycling workshop from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, in Room 111 Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building. The event is free and open to Penn State Berks faculty, staff and students.

Penn State Berks professor coordinates national art, science exhibition

Azar Panah, an associate professor of mechanical engineering at Penn State Berks, coordinated an educational art exhibition inspired by fluid dynamics at the Cultural Programs of the National Academy of Sciences. The Traveling Gallery of Fluid Motion presents “Chaosmosis: Assigning Rhythm to the Turbulent,” which opened on Oct. 2 and will remain on view through Feb. 23, 2024, at the National Academy of Sciences building in Washington, D.C.

Engineering Ahead aims to bridge gap for incoming students

Penn State Berks is helping a future generation of engineering students succeed through the college’s Engineering Ahead Program, which is now in its eighth year. The goal of the four-week summer “bridge” program, which ran from June 25 to July 21, is to increase retention rates among a diverse group of engineering students by enhancing academic preparedness and developing a support network.

Penn State Berks engineering students receive LION STEM scholarship

Seven incoming Penn State Berks students were awarded a scholarship to study engineering through the campus' Leveraging Innovation and Optimizing Nurturing (LION) STEM Scholars Program. The program, funded through a National Science Foundation grant, is in its second year and provides support in the form of a four-year, renewable $6,250 scholarship to talented engineering students with demonstrated financial need.

Berks celebrates STEM success hosting 23rd Annual Careers with Math Options

Penn State Berks celebrated the 23nd anniversary of its Careers with Math Options Conference on May 9. A record total of 188 seventh grade students and 24 chaperones from 13 schools around the Berks County area attended the day-long event. The mission of the event is to generate excitement for STEM topics early in young female students’ education.
