Penn State Berks will host two events for Berks County middle and high school students in May to foster an interest and encourage continued studies in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
Nearly 400 students from across the region visited Penn State Berks on Saturday, Jan. 26, to compete in the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) LEGO League competition.
Berks’ newly expanded Berks LaunchBox hosted several troops of Girl Scout Cadettes for a Robotics Workshop in December. Girl Scout Troops 134, 1221 and 1628 participated in the event at the Berks LaunchBox.
The innovators of tomorrow will be practicing imaginative thinking and teamwork at the FIRST LEGO League Challenge, set to run from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 26, with a snow date of Saturday, Feb. 9, at Penn State Berks.

Penn State Berks will host third-grade girls from Lauer's Park Elementary School for the second annual ‘STEM for All Ages’ program on from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Oct. 10.
Penn State Berks offers a variety of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) related Middle School Discovery Camps in a fun and relaxed environment. The camps are for students entering fifth through eighth grades in fall 2018. Camps run from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Penn State Berks celebrated the 22nd anniversary of its Careers with Math Options Conference on May 9. A record total of 335 female seventh-grade students and 35 chaperones from 19 schools around Berks County area attended the day-long event.
