3D printing, or additive manufacturing, as it’s more formally known, has enabled innovations in manufacturing and production. However, it’s also contributing to the 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic waste that's been generated since 1950. Penn State startup Trimatis LLC believes it can help combat this problem by converting plastic waste into 3D printing filament.

Through a series of connections made through the Penn State Berks Langan LaunchBox, Gabriela Gonzalez-Magana had an opportunity to complete a summer internship with PeopleJoy.
“Be Bold, Take Charge,” a multi-sector community health initiative between Penn State Berks and Penn State Health St. Joseph, is hosting a professional clothing drive in partnership with Goodwill Industries and Berks Connections Pretrial Services (BCPS) through April 9. Donation bins will be located on Penn State Berks campus in the Perkins Student Center and Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building. Clothing can also be donated at Penn State Health St. Joseph Main Campus at 2500 Bernville Road in Reading.
The Penn State Langan LaunchBox is sponsoring an Idea Challenge for Penn State Berks students. Students can submit ideas as individuals or as teams and submissions can include concepts for businesses and services. Three entries will be awarded $100 each. The deadline for submission is Nov. 10.
Two student entrepreneurs from Penn State Berks were recently invited to make a presentation on their company to Penn State President Eric Barron at the Schreyer House for the President’s annual football tailgate event.
