University Libraries celebrates faculty and staff with 2017 awards

Five members of the Penn State University Libraries — Ann Thompson, Wendy Stodart, John Shank, Jacqueline Peagler, and Karla Schmit — were honored for their outstanding contributions toward the success of Libraries’ operations, diversity and inclusion, and innovation. Libraries' staff members submitted nominations, and the awards were presented on May 11.

Nathan Nihiser has traveled a long and windy road that led him to cross the stage of commencement, graduating cum laude with a bachelor of science degree in electro-mechanical engineering technology from Penn State Berks this spring.
2017 Erickson Discovery Grants

Record 83 undergraduates receive 2017 Erickson Discovery Grants

Eighty-three students from across Penn State’s campuses will each be awarded a $3,500 Erickson Discovery Grant for summer 2017 through the Office of Undergraduate Education. The students will use the funds to immerse themselves in original research, scholarship, and creative work under the direct supervision of a faculty member.

Berks student government president heads to law school

Joseph Chletsos will graduate this Saturday, May 6, with a Bachelor of Science in business. During his time at Penn State Berks, he has done more than earn a degree: He has made a lasting contribution to the college. Chletsos has been accepted to Michigan State College of Law in East Lansing, Michigan, where he hopes to continue making a difference in the lives of others.

Two important experiences inspired Cezary Mikoluk to want to become a doctor. Now halfway toward that goal, he graduates magna cum laude from Penn State Berks this spring, and is on his way to studying medicine at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey.

Penn State Berks engineering student qualifies for ASME

Eric M. Miller, a sophomore mechanical engineering major at Penn State Berks, qualified for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers’ Innovative Additive Manufacturing 3D Challenge for a lightweight, low-cost, longer-lasting and fully mobile lower-leg prosthetic he is designing and creating based on his interest in biomechanics.
