Writing scientific articles can pose a challenge as the writer seeks to decipher the jargon and cut through the data to pique readers' interest. Liz Neeley, executive director of the award-winning podcast "The Story Collider," will speak on this subject from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Nov. 1 in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium at Penn State Berks. This event is free and open to the public.

Hillkirk creates ethics, sustainability endowment

Penn State Berks Chancellor R. Keith Hillkirk and his wife, Suzanne, have recently created a new endowment, the Hillkirk Family Program Endowment for Ethics and Sustainability. The name reflects the passion that the Hillkirks have for these two priorities, which are emphasized in the college’s strategic plan.

Penn State Berks celebrates Exercise Is Medicine Week

The Penn State Berks Kinesiology Department is celebrating Exercise Is Medicine Week from Oct. 2 to 6, 2017, with a variety of events, including daily 20-minute walks on campus and various activities on the lawn of the Perkins Student Center. All events are open to students, faculty and staff and participants can earn points for the number of activities completed during the week to remit for a water bottle or a T-shirt.

Prospective students invited to Penn State Day

Prospective students and their families are invited to a visitation program at Penn State Berks at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at the Perkins Student Center, located just off Broadcasting Road in Wyomissing. The event is part of the University's "Penn State Day" in which Penn State campuses throughout the state host visitation programs throughout the month of October.

Penn State Berks wants all members of the campus community to know that they are valued and accepted. That’s why the campus is offering an Ally/Safe Zone training session from 12:15 to 2:30 p.m. Oct. 10 in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room for faculty and staff.

Unity Day celebration to be held Sept. 20

Penn State Berks will hold its Unity Day celebration -- an annual Penn State event that helps bring students, faculty, staff and the community together to celebrate diversity -- from 12:15-1:15 p.m Sept. 20. Activities will take place under the tent at the Perkins Plaza, rain or shine. All Unity Day activities are free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
