Trimatis selected for The Great Social Enterprise Pitch

A team from Penn State Berks has been selected as one of 10 finalists in the Great Social Enterprise Pitch, an idea incubator and business plan competition for concepts that use a business model and revenues to have a positive social or environmental impact. The student-faculty team, Trimatis, recycles plastic waste for use in 3-D printing. Working with the Langan LaunchBox, they were able to develop their business plans

Kulturel-Konak and Konak honored with ASEE Best Paper Award

Two Penn State Berks faculty members were recently honored by the American Society for Engineering Education. Their paper titled, "Assessment of Progressive Learning of Ethics in Engineering Students Based on the Model of Domain Learning," co-authored by Sadan Kulturel-Konak and Abdullah Konak, among others, was recognized as the ASEE Best Zone I Paper for 2017.

Eslam Panah awarded NSF Grant for Tomo PIV

Azar Eslam Panah, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Penn State Berks, was recently awarded a National Science Foundation grant in the amount of $289,785 toward the purchase of a Tomographic Particle Image Velocimetry (Tomo PIV) System for Multi-Disciplinary Research.

NCA honors Nicholas as an exemplary teacher

Cheryl L. Nicholas, associate professor of communication arts and sciences and global studies at Penn State Berks, will receive one of only two Teachers on Teaching honors being presented at the National Communication Association 103rd annual “Our Legacy, Our Relevance” convention at Dallas, Texas from Nov. 16–19.

The Organization for the Study of Communication, Language, and Gender has presented its 2017 Feminist Teacher-Mentor Award to E. Michele Ramsey, associate professor of communication arts and sciences and women's studies at Penn State Berks.

Service Learning Book Wins ISU Teaching Literature Book

The Idaho State University Department of English and Philosophy has announced “Service Learning and Literary Studies in English,” edited by Laurie Grobman (Penn State Berks) and Roberta Rosenberg (Christopher Newport University) as the winner of the 2017 Teaching Literature Book Award.

Penn State Laureate Brings “FaceAge” to Berks

Professor Andrew Belser, Penn State Laureate, will bring “FaceAge,” a video installation that explores intergenerational attitudes about aging, to Penn State Berks from Wednesday, Sept. 20, through Friday, Sept. 22. In addition, Belser will give a presentation on the making of the “FaceAge” project on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.
