Penn State Berks will have an on-site document shredder on campus for faculty and staff from 9 a.m. to 9:15 p.m. Aug. 15, in the Franco Building parking lot as part of its sustainability initiatives.

United Way of Berks County's Big Cheese event continues to grow, and this year's effort, which will draw 1,000 volunteers to package 500,000 meals, has been noted as the largest event of its type organized by a United Way, as well as the largest food packing event by any organization in the country's Northeast area, according to The Outreach Program. The Outreach Program is the national nonprofit organization that organizes food packing events with local organizations across the country.
An enthusiastic group of about 75 community leaders; city and county officials; Penn State Berks faculty, staff and students; and Penn State Health St. Joseph physicians and administrators, participated in a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour of the Langan LaunchBox, a signature social entrepreneurship and business accelerator program established with a $50,000 grant from the Invent Penn State Initiative.

On April 25, 11 undergraduate students representing Penn State campuses throughout Pennsylvania presented their research to an audience of legislators at the Undergraduate Research at the Capitol—Pennsylvania (URC-PA) conference.
