Students publish book of Reading Police biographies, event on April 22

Penn State Berks is celebrating the most recent student publication, titled The Reading Police Oral History Project: Understanding Those Who Serve and Protect. Student authors are hosting a "book party" on April 22, 2016, at 1:00 in Janssen Conference Center where students and police officers will reunite to discuss this original publication.

Alumni reunite for rugby match

Penn State Berks alumni who played for the college's Rugby Team will reunite for first annual Penn State Berks Alumni vs Student Rugby Match on Saturday, April 23, 2016, starting at 3 p.m. A series of games will be held, rain or shine, behind the Beaver Community Center on the new artificial turf athletic field.

Berks students awarded in Spanish poetry-writing contest

Three Penn State Berks students received awards in the third annual Spanish poetry-writing contest sponsored by the Latin American Cultural Center of Lancaster (LACC). Students from Lancaster, Reading, and Harrisburg in grades 6-8, 9-12, and university undergraduates wrote original poems in Spanish honoring mothers. Penn State Berks captured the top three prizes in the university category.

Penn State Berks holds University Scholastic Awards Ceremony

Penn State Berks students received recognition at the University Scholastic Awards Ceremony on April 7, 2016, in the Multipurpose Room of the Perkins Student Center. The awards presented included the President's Freshman Award, the President Sparks Award, and the Evan Pugh Scholars Award.

Two Penn State students advance to compete for Miss America 2016 title

Two Penn State students won local Miss America crowns recently and advanced to compete for the title of Miss Pennsylvania this summer in Pittsburgh. Sarah Fieger, Penn State Berks, was crowned Miss Southeastern PA and Kelsey Wettig, Penn State University Park, was crowned Miss Pennsbury during competitions in late March in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.

Berks Alternative Spring Break travels to Belfast to help youth, homeless

During the week of March 5-13, ten Penn State Berks students and two staff advisers traveled to Belfast, Ireland to work with the nonprofit organization Amazade on initiatives related to youth, hunger, and homelessness-all major issues facing citizens of Northern Ireland. This year, instead of choosing a project by destination, students selected a project by its mission.

Berks students participate in Penn State Student Entrepreneurship Summit

Students involved in entrepreneurship at Berks will participate in the Penn State Student Entrepreneurship Summit on April 15, 2016, at University Park campus. The goal of the Summit is to connect entrepreneurial students from across the Penn State campuses and to share best practices and lessons learned in the realm of student entrepreneurship.
