The Penn State Berks Freyberger Gallery will present the exhibition Forsyth and Farrell from March 17-April 21, 2016. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, March 17, at 5 p.m. This event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served.
This year's Alternative Spring Break will take a group of ten Penn State Berks students, along with two staff members, to Belfast, Ireland, where they will spend the week of March 5-13, 2016, working on initiatives related to hunger and homelessness.
The Penn State Berks Theatre Department will present La Gringa, a play by award-winning playwright Carmen Rivera, as the Spring Workshop production. The play will be presented as a staged reading on Tuesday, Feb. 23; Thursday, Feb. 25; and Friday, Feb. 26, 2016 at 8 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. Admission is free, but space is limited to 40 seats on stage with the actors. In addition, Puerto Rican cuisine will be served after every performance.
Dr. Jennifer Hillman, Professor of Psychology at Penn State Berks, recently earned the award of board certification in Geropsychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP). She is one of only four board certified Geropsychologists in Pennsylvania, and one of only fifty-three in the United States.
Dr. Kenneth Womack, expert on The Beatles, will make a college-wide presentation on George Martin, musical producer for the Beatles, on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at 7 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room, Perkins Student Center, Penn State Berks. This presentation is free and open to the public.
Food trends are not only a collection of photos on Instagram; they have an everlasting effect on our culture, workforce, economy, health, and day-to-day lives. David Sax, author of a new book titled The Tastemakers: Why We're Crazy for Cupcakes but Fed Up With Fondue, will discuss how food trends impact the way we eat and the world around us on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at 7:30 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room, Perkins Student Center Auditorium, Penn State Berks. This event is free and open to the public.
Penn State Berks will host its annual Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Conference on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. Approximately 90 eleventh-grade students are expected to attend the conference, which will feature instructors and students from Penn State Berks and the community who will provide workshops with the goal of encouraging the high school students to continue their studies in science, math, engineering, and technology.
Local Leader Campaign Recognizes Blood Donor Recruitment Success
Miller-Keystone Blood Center will recognize Penn State Berks for its commitment to the health and welfare of the community through blood drive sponsorship through its Local Leaders Award. They will present the award on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, at 10 a.m., in the Janssen Office Building, Penn State Berks.
