Four Penn State Berks Business majors comprised one of the four teams with the highest scores in the regional Certified Financial Challenge (CFA) competition for 2013-2014. The team includes seniors Lewis Colon of Reading, Vincent Coppa of Birdsboro, Richard Ellenberger of Reinholds, and Clinton Faust of Mohrsville. The Penn State Berks team will join Temple University, Villanova University, and the University of Scranton and move on to the Finals event on February 19, 2014, at 5 p.m. at the Union League of Philadelphia.
A rousing celebration of diversity, unity, and peace, King's Dream has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at 8 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. Originally scheduled for Feb. 5, the performance was postponed due to inclement weather. This event is free and open to the public.
Professional speaker, Steve Weber, will use the persona of "Forrest Gump" to teach audiences how to become more decisive and to make the right decisions in his presentation "Life is Like a Box of Chocolates!" on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.
The Junior League of Reading and the O'Pake Institute for Ethics, Leadership, and Public Service will present the film, "Girl Rising," on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, at 7 p.m. in Francis Hall Auditorium at Alvernia University. Penn State Berks student leader Amanda Gonzalez-Ortiz will be one of the featured speakers after the film, talking about the obstacles she's overcome in pursuing her education.

In October 2013, the Sustainability Institute announced its new internal grant program, The Reinvention Fund, intended to support collaborative projects by faculty, staff and students that will improve and expand sustainability efforts at Penn State. Of the more than $700,000 allocated for investment in these projects, $102,000 has been dedicated to support proposals received by student teams.
Twenty-two proposals were received from interdisciplinary student teams, and 11 were selected to be funded. The funded proposals represent innovative ideas from four of Penn State's campuses -- Abington; Berks; Erie, The Behrend College; and University Park.
Penn State Humanities Laureate Kenneth Womack will share insights into the history of the Beatles through a multimedia presentation on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at 1 p.m. in room 121 in the Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building. The event is free and open to the public.
In honor of Black History Month, the Penn State Berks will hold several events in February 2014.

Penn State Berks will host the Berks County MATHCOUNTS Chapter Competition on Saturday, February 1, 2014. Approximately 126 middle school students from various Berks County school districts will be on campus from 8 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center. The students will be competing to advance to the State MATHCOUNTS Competition, which will be held March 7-8 at the Sheraton Harrisburg-Hershey Hotel.
