Rusted Root’s Jim Donovan brings drum circle experience to campus

Jim Donovan, former member of the three-time platinum award-winning band Rusted Root, will bring his world drum circle community music-making experience to campus on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. on the Perkins Student Center lawn. This is an interactive group event for all skill levels, including beginners, and drums and percussion instruments will be provided. This event is free and open to the public.

Burcaw shares inspirational message with Choosing Happiness lecture

Born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy, a progressive neuromuscular disease, Shane Burcaw has been battling a weakening body since birth. Early on, he discovered that approaching his problems with a sense of humor made them much easier to deal with and overcome. He brings his Choosing Happiness lecture to campus on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. on the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

Can Animals Suffer from Mental Illness?

From anxious dogs to compulsive cats to elephants in recovery, Dr. Laurel Braitman, author of Animal Madness, has seen it all. She will discuss her insights into how understanding animals can help us understand ourselves in her presentation on Mental Health in Humans and Animals on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

Outdoor Adventures help first-year students transition to college life

While many students may feel anxious as they begin college with classmates they have never met, first-year students enrolled in the Outdoor Adventure Program will begin their semester early - and meet friends along the way - by participating in one of three different outdoor excursions: canoeing, community service, or backpacking.

First-year students move into residence halls on August 21

Penn State Berks will welcome nearly 400 first-year members to its residential community as part of the campus' annual orientation program on Friday, August 21, 2015. Students will move into the residence halls from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be a welcome reception for students and their families at the Perkins Plaza from 2:30-4:00 p.m., which will be open to students, faculty, and staff of the college.

High school students invited to spend a summer morning on campus

High school students who will be seniors this fall and their families are encouraged to attend the Penn State Berks Spend a Summer Morning program, on Saturday, August 1, 2015, beginning at 9 a.m. Information will be provided to students who are considering admission for the fall of 2016.

Penn State Health Holds Celebratory Event

Penn State Health held an event to celebrate St. Joseph Regional Health Network's recent transfer to Penn State Health. The event was held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, beginning at 11 a.m. at Penn State Health St. Joseph, 2500 Bernville Road, in Reading . The celebration included remarks by key stakeholders and the unveiling of a Penn State Nittany Lion statue and new Penn State Health St. Joseph signage.

Adult information session to be held July 14

The Office of Continuing Education will hold an adult learner information session on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, beginning at 6 p.m. This comprehensive information session will provide adults with information on credit, noncredit, and certificate programs at Penn State Berks. In addition, representatives will be available to answer questions on admissions, academic advising, financial aid, and registration.
