For the first time in its history, Penn State Berks will hold two separate ceremonies for its spring commencement. On Saturday, May 9, 2015, the first commencement ceremony will be held for students graduating from the EBC (Engineering, Business, and Computing) Division at 10 a.m. The second ceremony for students graduating from the HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences) Division and the Science Division will be held at 2 p.m. Both ceremonies will be held outside on the Perkins Plaza, in front of the Perkins Student Center.
Dr. Laurie Grobman, professor of English and women's studies at Penn State Berks, has received the 2015 Faculty Outreach Award, an award that honors faculty who have positively and substantially affected individuals, organizations, or communities through problem solving or development as a result of extending their scholarship.
When Dominique Robinson graduates with a B.A. in Applied Psychology this May, he will be thinking about the brother he lost when they were both children as he accepts his diploma.
"Everything I have done, I've done for my siblings and to make my parents proud," states Robinson. "Most of all, I did it for my brother. Without him, I don't know what would have happened to me. I have done everything with him in mind because he didn't have the chance to do the same things."
PepsiCo Recycling honors Penn State Berks with a grand prize as a top performer in a student-focused recycling initiative
APRIL 24, 2015 - Today, PepsiCo Recycling announced Penn State Berks finished in third place in the nationwide PepsiCo Campus Recycling Challenge, earning a grand prize of $5,000 and solidifying the school as a national recycling champion.
The Penn State Berks Alumni Society, along with the Penn State Berks Office of Alumni Relations, will host a beer tasting and networking event on Tuesday, May 12, 2015, at Chatty Monks Brewing Co., 610 Penn Avenue, West Reading. Doors open at 6:00 pm. and registration is from 6:00-6:30 pm.
The Berks County Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association will hold its 28th Annual Alumni and Friends Golf Outing on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Golden Oaks Golf Club. The golf tournament is a scramble format with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. and the registration fee is $105 per person.
Cultural critic Chuck Klosterman, author of Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs and the New York Times Magazine's Ethicist column, will present a lecture on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at 7:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium.
