HASS Administrative Assistant Earns B.A. in CAS

For Danielle Moser, Administrative Support Assistant in the Humanities, Arts, and Sciences Division at Penn State Berks, the road to graduation has been a long and winding one. Moser will graduate on December 20, 2013, with a B.A. in Communication Arts and Sciences. Moser earned her associate degree in Letters, Arts, and Sciences from Penn State Hazleton, and then she got married. Since her husband was enlisted in the Army, they traveled for the next 18 years, making returning to college difficult.

Litvin publishes electronic resource book in crystallography

Daniel B. Litvin, Distinguished Professor of Physics at Penn State Berks, has authored a new book titled Magnetic Group Tables: 1-, 2-, and 3-Dimensinal Magnetic Subperiodic Groups and Magnetic Space Groups, which has been published as an electronic book by the International Union of Crystallography. Containing almost 12,000 pages of tables, Magnetic Group Tables, is a survey of the structure, symbols, and properties of the magnetic groups that define the symmetry of crystals.

Students work with Reading Public Library on marketing plan

This semester, Penn State Berks students have had some real-world marketing experience, working with the Reading Public Library on creating a new marketing plan to help the nonprofit organization meet the evolving needs of its customers. Students will present their work to college administrators, selected faculty, and representatives from the Reading Public Library on Monday, December 16, 2013, at 1 p.m. in room 244 of the Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building.

Returning adult students get second chance with degree

Kelli Shultess Finds Passion in Applied Psychology Program When Kelli Shultess moved from Chicago to Berks County with her fiancee, she experienced a bit of culture shock. She also found that it was difficult finding a good job without a college degree. Eventually, she found a position with Godiva Chocolatier in the accounts payable/receivable department, and her supervisors were very pleased with her work and wanted to promote her but could not because she didn't have a degree, so they recommended that she return to school.

Kate Harley turns Target internship into executive position

Kate Harley will graduate with not only a B.S. degree in Business, but a full-time Executive Team Leader position at Target. It all began when Kate met with Target during a Penn State Berks career fair, interviewed with the company, and was accepted for the internship, which she completed the summer of her junior year, working 10 weeks for 40 hours a week.

Father, daughter graduate together

Mark Dawson, Assistant Director of Business Services at Penn State Berks, will graduate with his daughter, MacKenzy Dawson, this December. Mark will earn an associate degree in Business Administration and MacKenzy will earn a bachelor's degree in Business with a dual concentration in Accounting and Finance and a minor in Entrepreneurship.

Chosen Dance Company educates as it entertains

Chosen Dance Company operates with the mission of making Hip-Hop culture more accessible to a wider audience, regardless of age, race, or gender, while also validating its place in the world as a legitimate art form. They will perform on Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2013, at 8 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.
