Prospective Students Invited to Visit Program

Prospective students and their families are invited to a Visit Program at Penn State Berks on Saturday, September 28, 2013, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Perkins Student Center, located just off Broadcasting Road in Reading. The program offers information to local high school juniors and seniors considering admission to Penn State Berks in the fall of 2014. Sessions will present information on Penn State admissions, financial aid, academics, athletics,and student activities and services, as well as discussions with faculty, staff, and current students.

Career Services Provides Transportation to University Park Career Fairs

The Penn State Berks Office of Career Services will provide transportation to two Career Services events at University Park campus in September: the IST Pro Expo Career Fair on Monday, September 16, 2013, and the University Park Fall Career Fair on September 17 and 19. Transportation will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.

Alumni Society sponsors haunted tour of Gettysburg with Charlie Adams

The Penn State Berks Alumni Society will sponsor a bus trip to tour Gettysburg with paranormal researcher and writer Charles J. Adams III on Saturday, October 5, 2013. The bus will depart from Penn State Berks at 8 a.m. and return to the campus at 6:30 p.m. The tour includes a visit to a renowned haunted house, ghostly sites in the battlefield, and other haunted areas. Participants will also have free time to explore the town, eat lunch, and shop. The cost for this event is $60 per person.

Penn State Berks host “Gun Control Debate”

Columbine, Virginia Tech, Sandy Hook … the list of mass murders continues to grow and has sparked a contentious divide on gun control. In the "Gun Control Debate," two of America's most prominent public intellectuals go head-to-head on this most timely topic on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, at 7:30 p.m. in Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

Penn State Berks among colleges to receive PLCB grant

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board announced that three local colleges-Penn State Berks, Albright College, and Kutztown University-as well as Kutztown Borough and the Wyomissing Police Department will share a grant for a combined $150,000 to help minors avoid the temptation of underage drinking and alcohol abuse.

Penn State Berks starts PRSSA Chapter

Penn State Berks has recently started a chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, the world's foremost pre-professional society for students interested in public relations, with more than 10,000 members at 330 colleges and universities in the United States and abroad.

Penn State Berks adds Public Relations Certificate to academic offerings

Penn State Berks recently announced that the college has added the Certificate in Public Relations to its academic offerings. The certificate program is designed for students majoring in Communication Arts and Sciences, business, and Professional Writing who wish to focus their supporting coursework in a specific professional communication area. The certificate is also designed for working professionals interested in developing their skill-set in public relations.

Lecture examines facility layout problems related to production cycles

Cyclic facility layout problems will be the subject of the first lecture of the fall Penn State Berks Engineering, Business, and Computing Research Interest Group Speaker Series. Dr. Sadan Kulturel-Konak, Professor of Management Information Systems and the coordinator of Engineering Entrepreneurship at Penn State Berks Berks, will present her research on cyclic facility layout problems on Friday, October 4, 2013, from 1:00-2:15 pm in room 244 of the Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building.

Prospective Students Invited to Penn State Day

Prospective students and their families are invited to a visitation program at Penn State Berks on Saturday, October 19, 2013, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Perkins Student Center, located just off Broadcasting Road in Reading. The event is part of the University's "Penn State Day" in which Penn State campuses throughout the state host visitation programs on the same day. Students will have an opportunity to complete their application during the program and the college will waive the application fee.
