The J. Dean Stephans Memorial Award for Student Leadership was created with the intention of honoring a student who will graduate from Penn State Berks while maintaining active involvement in co-curricular activities.
Eligibility
Consideration for this award shall be given to all full-time undergraduate students with a 5th semester standing or above, having completed at least 4 continuous semesters at Penn State Berks, maintaining a grade point average of at least 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale), who demonstrate outstanding leadership in student government and/or other campus clubs, organizations, or para-professional roles in either a campus office or a department and who have worked to recruit fellow undergraduate students to join campus activities or take a para-professional role.
Criteria for Judging
- The purpose of this award shall be to honor and recognize an undergraduate student who is enrolled at Penn State Berks for outstanding leadership in student government and/or other campus clubs, organizations, or para-professional roles in either a campus office or a department and who have worked to recruit fellow undergraduate students to join campus activities or take on a para-professional role. Demonstrated leadership and service to the Penn State Berks campus community.
- Made significant contributions for the betterment of the campus and/or surrounding community
- Been actively involved in a wide array of co-curricular activities
- Nominations should include why the nominee deserves to be chosen for this award, and how their performance positively impacted students and enhanced the Penn State Berks community
