Penn State Berks has named more than 730 students to the fall 2022 dean’s list. To earn a dean’s list designation, students must end the semester with a 3.5 grade point average or higher.
The Penn State Berks Advisory Board Annual Scholarship will be awarded to full-time undergraduate students who are enrolled or who plan to enroll at Penn State Berks. First preference shall be given to students who graduated from a high school located within the Penn State Berks service area.
Penn State Berks is celebrating its history while preparing students for the future through National Engineers Week events and activities, to be held Feb. 20 to 24. While the college’s roots in engineering date back to 1927, Penn State has offered engineering degrees for more than 125 years.
Mike Fidanza, professor of plant and soil sciences at Penn State Berks and former editor-in-chief of the International Turfgrass Society Research Journal, served as the editor of “Achieving Sustainable Turfgrass Management” — a new textbook centered on implementing eco-friendly initiatives in maintaining turfgrass.
Students in the Penn State Berks mechanical engineering and occupational therapy programs collaborate each year to create devices to meet the needs of individuals with physical challenges as part of the Pfreimer Adaptive Equipment Project.
Roman Voskoboynikov, a junior biochemistry and molecular biology major at Penn State Berks, is the recipient of the Undergraduate Fellowship from the Cayman Biomedical Research Institute for his research on "The regulation of lipid transport and metabolism by the splicing factor glorund in the Drosophila intestine."
“It's great to be able to expose the students to the space and the resources that the LaunchBox has to offer,” said Associate Teaching Professor of Engineering Marietta Scanlon. “Being able to work with the Berks LaunchBox has added another dimension to the course and extends the Berks campus to the city of Reading, providing our engineering students with even more opportunities.”
Seven new graduates of the Penn State Berks practical nursing program crossed the stage during the Penn State Berks fall commencement on Thursday, Dec. 15, at the Santander Arena. The students earned their certificates in practical nursing and are eligible to test for the National Council Licensure Examination-Practical Nurse, or NCLEX-PN.
When Safitaj Sindhar was a young girl growing up in Punjab, India, she never dreamed that she would be graduating at the top of her class with plans to attend medical school. Sindhar will earn her bachelor of science in biology with the genetics and development option, and a minor in psychological sciences, on Thursday, Dec. 15, during Penn State Berks' fall 2022 commencement ceremony.
