Penn State Laureate Brings “FaceAge” to Berks

Professor Andrew Belser, Penn State Laureate, will bring “FaceAge,” a video installation that explores intergenerational attitudes about aging, to Penn State Berks from Wednesday, Sept. 20, through Friday, Sept. 22. In addition, Belser will give a presentation on the making of the “FaceAge” project on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

Penn State’s NSF I-Corps program seeks applications by Sept. 15 and Oct. 15

The National Science Foundation has joined in supporting Penn State’s goal of taking more of its discoveries to market by awarding Penn State a five-year, $500,000 Innovation Corps (I-Corps) grant to establish the Invent Penn State I-Corps Site in collaboration with Ben Franklin Technology Partner’s TechCelerator, Happy Valley LaunchBox, and Invent Penn State’s Innovation Hubs.

Common Reading features Local Author

Students beginning their studies at Penn State Berks received their first homework assignment well before they showed up on campus for the first day of classes. The assignment, part of the college’s Common Reading Program, was to read "A Girl Named Nina" by local author Norma Tamayo of Exeter Township, who will discuss her work at 12:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

Tribe named Fellow of American Chemical Society

Lorena Tribe, associate professor of chemistry at Penn State Berks, has been named a Fellow of the American Chemical Society. She is the only professor at a Penn State campus other than University Park to receive this honor.

Eight Berks students receive 2017 Erickson Grants

This year, eight students at Penn State Berks received the University’s prestigious Erickson Discovery Grant for summer 2017 through the Office of Undergraduate Education. Penn State Berks had the highest number of student recipients of any Penn State campus other than University Park.
