Pauline Milwood, assistant professor of hospitality management at Penn State Berks, recently shared her expertise in the hospitality field with the Pennsylvania Association of Bed and Breakfast Inns (PABBI) at their Educational Conference for Innkeepers and Aspiring Innkeepers, held Nov. 14–15 at the Wyndham Garden Hotel in State College.
When Jeff Jackman enrolled in the Air Force, he wasn’t aware of the educational benefits he was earning through the G.I. Bill. While enlisted, he earned an associate degree in air and space operations technology, and after completing his service, he decided to build on his experience and enroll at Penn State Berks.
The Penn State Berks Fluid Discovery Lab will present “Gallery of Fluid Motion” exhibit in the Freyberger Gallery from Monday, Dec. 5, through Friday, Dec. 9, with a reception to follow on the last evening of the exhibition.
The Penn State Berks Center for the Agricultural Sciences and a Sustainable Environment is studying the role that telephone poles can play in monitoring and eradicating the invasive spotted lanternfly. The center continues to be one of the main research sites surveying effective procedures in the control of the invasive planthoppers through support from both the U.S. and Pennsylvania departments of agriculture, as well as other grant funding.
Abdullah Konak, distinguished professor of information sciences and technology at Penn State Berks, received the 2022 INFORMS Volunteer Service Award in October during the annual ceremony in Indianapolis.
The Penn State Berks global studies degree program will host a global forum with a presentation titled “Anatomy of Inflation: Local and Global” from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 14, in room 246, Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building. The event is free and open to the public.
The Penn State Berks Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee will hold its annual International Thanksgiving Dinner and International Gala on Wednesday, Nov. 16, in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room. The International Gala is a celebration of the different cultures represented by the student body and will include a student fashion show, cultural dance performances, and desserts from around the world. This event is open to Penn State Berks students, faculty and staff.
Penn State Berks will host a variety of events during Global Entrepreneurship Week from Monday, Nov. 14, to Thursday, Nov. 17. Events are sponsored by the college’s Flemming Creativity, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development Center and the Berks LaunchBox in downtown Reading.
