In November 1999, alumni of the Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute Affiliate Program Group came together with financial support to endow a scholarship to support the financial needs of engineering students at Penn State Berks. The scholarship was created to honor all those who attended and graduated from WPI as well as the faculty and staff who taught and served at the institution from 1927–1958.
The WPI alumni goal was to raise $25,000 to fully endow the scholarship. In December 2002, solicitation letters were mailed to all 900 WPI alumni and friends worldwide, seeking contributions to the scholarship fund. Prior to this mail campaign, $18,000 had been raised toward the $25,000 goal from individual gifts. To date, the WPI Scholarship has raised more than $115,000.
If you have yet to make a gift to the WPI Scholarship, please consider doing so. The WPI Scholarship is one of the key initiatives of WPI and should be fully funded so that the legacy of WPI lives on at the college forever. The scholarship can survive in perpetuity only through the generous support of alumni. Your generosity will allow the WPI tradition to live on in the studies and academic achievements of the students who receive the scholarship.
