Spoken word poet Rudy Francisco will address issues of racial politics, love, domestic violence, and religion on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at 7:30 p.m., in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium, Penn State Berks. This event is free and open to the public.
The Penn State Berks Muslim Student Association (MSA) is hosting a program on World Hijab Day, Monday, February 1, 2016, at 1 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room, Perkins Student Center. The event will include a presentation on World Hijab Day, a gift of a free scarf for female attendees, a tutorial on how to wear the hijab, and a free lunch for all who attend.

Visitors to Penn State Berks may have noticed a pathway of red and green dots along campus walkways recently; these are not warning signs or stop/go symbols. The college is launching Stand for State, a new University-wide initiative aimed at empowering Penn Staters to stand up for one another, on Monday, January 25, 2016. The launch will be held from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center and will include a PowerPoint presentation, information tables and give-away items, as well as a display in the showcase on the second floor lobby.
Penn State Berks will host a banquet in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016. The event will be held in the Perkins Student Center Multipurpose Room; doors open at 6 p.m., with dinner at 6:30. This year's banquet theme is "We Shall Overcome."
Penn State Berks students will be "lending their paws for a good cause" as they volunteer at a variety of nonprofit organizations during the academic year. The following is a list of community service initiatives in February 2016.

Students will socialize with residents of Country Meadows while competing with and alongside them in one of their most competitive games-Wii Bowling.
The Freyberger Gallery will host a special event, "Stories of Immigrants and Refugees: An Evening of Compassion," on Thursday, February 4, 2015, at 6 p.m. This event is being held in conjunction with the exhibition Eye of the Collector: The Jewish Vision of Sigmund R. Balka, which opens on January 21. Both events are free and open to the public and light refreshments will be served.
The Penn State Berks Student Development Team who developed an app to help students find tutors across the University will present at the upcoming Penn State COIL (Center for Online Innovation in Learning) Conversation on Friday, February 12, 2016, from 2-3 p.m. in the Penn State Room of the Perkins Student Center, Penn State Berks.
