Christian Student Fellowship helps victims of Hurricane Sandy

The Penn State Berks Christian Student Fellowship (CSF), a student group, is spending their spring break in Queens, New York, helping to rebuild homes damaged by Hurricane Sandy. The group of 16 students departed on Sunday, March 9, 2014, and will return on Saturday, March 15.

Penn State Berks to host Ben Franklin Medical Device Group

Penn State Berks will host the upcoming meeting of the Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania Medical Device Group on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, from 8-9:30 a.m. in room 121 of the Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building. The Penn State University Materials Research Institute (MRI) will present at the meeting, which is free and open to the public.

Penn State Berks summer sessions begin May 12

The summer sessions at Penn State Berks begins on May 12, 2014. There will be more than 80 classes offered in the two summer sessions, with the first six-week session running from May 12-June 19, and the second six-week session running from June 23-July 31. Courses will be offered in a variety of disciplines including accounting, chemistry, information systems, math, business, English, communications, psychology, Spanish, and many others. Career Services Holds Career and Internship Fair on March 19

The annual on-campus Career and Internship Fair for currently enrolled students will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building. More than fifty local companies will attend the fair and meet with students who are interested in employment and internship opportunities. A list of participating employers is available in the Career Services Office, room 10 of the Perkins Student Center.

Career Services announces date changes for University Park Career Days

Career Services announces that the dates for University Park Career Days have been revised. The event for non-technical majors will be held on Wednesday, March 26, (formerly March 25) and the event for technical majors will be held on Thursday, March 27 (formerly March 26). Career Services will provide van transportation for Berks students for both events on a first-come, first-served basis. These events run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., both days.

Daly discusses black holes in Universe in Losoncy Lecture Series

In the third annual George J. Losoncy Lecture in Physics and Astronomy, Dr. Ruth Daly, Professor of Physics at Penn State Berks, will give a lecture titled "Black Holes in the Universe" on Thursday, March 20, 2014, at 5 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public, and it will be preceded by a reception in the Freyberger Gallery at 4:30 p.m., where light refreshments will be served.

Larry Kahaner takes audience through Fiscal Fitness Boot Camp

Larry Kahaner, author of Competitive Intelligence, stock trader, and former BusinessWeek reporter, will take the audience through a Fiscal Fitness Boot Camp on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public. Kahaner knows how to survive in down markets and thrive when the markets are good because he's done it himself. How? By becoming fiscally fit. According to Kahaner, you're never too young to start. In fact, while you're still in college is exactly the right time.

Penn State Berks holds engineering design challenge

The 2014 Penn State Berks Engineering Design Challenge will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014, in the Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building. The competition is open to both high school and middle school teams. Check in for the competition will begin at 8:15 a.m., followed by a keynote presentation at 8:45 am. The actual competition will start at 9:30 a.m. and will conclude at 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided. There is a fee of $100 to enter a team of students in the Design Challenge to cover the cost of lunch and materials.
