Cezary Mikoluk, a senior majoring in biochemistry and molecular biology at Penn State Berks, received top honors in the undergraduate poster award competition at the 58th Annual Drosophila Research Conference in San Diego, California, held March 29-April 2.

Penn State Berks students received recognition for their scholarly accomplishments at the University Scholastic Awards Ceremony on April 6. Forty-five students were honored with awards, which included the Evan Pugh Scholars Award, the President Sparks Award and the President’s Freshman Award.

Penn State Berks is making its mark in the field of theoretical nuclear physics research by becoming the only undergraduate institution of higher education in the nation to receive a highly competitive grant from the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility (JLab) to partially fund a new professor position through JLab’s prestigious Bridge Program.

College to host ASME Student Competition

Penn State Berks will host the American Society of Engineers (ASME) Anthracite–Lehigh Valley Section Student Competition from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 30, in the Gaige Technology and Business Innovation Building. This event is open to ASME members, and a light meal will be served.

Pradip Bandyopadhyay, division head of science at Penn State Berks, is working to help a future generation of engineering students to succeed. In 2015, he was invited to collaborate on a proposal titled “Sustainable Bridges from Campus to Campus: Retention Models for Transitioning Engineering Students.”

Popal achieves her 'American Dream'

It has been a long and arduous college journey for Habida Popal, but she has finally earned her bachelor's degree with a double major in Science and Communication Arts and Sciences at Penn State Berks. Spanning more than 10 years, Popal studied at five different colleges and universities, but attributes the majority of her success and accomplishments to Penn State Berks.
2017 Farm Show Scholarship Recipients

Penn State students receive scholarships at 2017 Pennsylvania Farm Show

Seventeen Penn State students, including 13 enrolled in the College of Agricultural Sciences, were among 28 who received scholarships from the Pennsylvania Farm Show Scholarship Foundation during the 101st Pennsylvania Farm Show in Harrisburg. The foundation awards scholarships to young people who are registered in a post-secondary educational institution and who have exhibited at the Farm Show. To be chosen, students must exhibit leadership qualities and excellent academic performance, according to the foundation.
