Student Life

The Arts & Lecture Series brings world-renowned speakers to campus. Past events have included visits by activist Hannah Hart, ‘Jungle’ Jack Hanna, retired FBI Special Agent James Fitzgerald, and senior justice Writer Shaun King. The series also sponsors a variety of cultural events throughout the year, including African story-telling, Islamic heritage and Latino music. In addition, there are many art exhibitions and theatre performances throughout the year–all free to students!

The Campus Life calendar is filled with student events including coffeehouse musicians, comedians, hypnotists, magicians, Pinterest craft nights, movie nights and other special activities throughout the year, so there’s always something to do. Students are able to sign up for excursions to such places as Washington, D.C., New York City, Six Flags Great Adventure, and various local sporting events. And student groups sponsor activities around Berks County, providing opportunities to rock climb, hike, play laser tag and more!

There’s always something happening at Penn State Berks!

Student Clubs and Organizations

At Penn State Berks, more than 50 student clubs and organizations provide opportunities for students to build upon common interests and expand horizons, all while making new friends and enhancing a resume with leadership roles.

If there's an interest, there's a club for you. We have many clubs which offer students the opportunity to lead, serve others, expand knowledge in their major, perform, compete, and make new friends. Students are also welcome to take the initiative and start new clubs with their classmates centering around their passions.

One of the most popular student clubs is Berks benefitting THON. Berks students are very involved in THON, the year-long effort that raises funds and awareness for the fight against pediatric cancer, culminating in a 46-hour dance marathon at University Park campus. Berks benefiting THON student organization holds many events and is always one of the leading fundraising campuses.

Division III Athletics

Penn State Berks has 12 NCAA Division III sports: baseball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, women’s volleyball, and men’s golf. In 2018, Penn State Berks athletics pulled off an amazing feat that has never been seen before, by the program itself or by any institution in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. All five of the spring teams with championships in the spring won the conference title and four of those teams went on to compete in the NCAA Tournament.

Berks also offers variety of club sports including men's and women's bowling, women's equestrian, men's ice hockey, men's lacrosse, men's rugby, men's volleyball, cheerleading and dance.
