Grobman Recognized as “Best” in American Higher Education

U.S. Professors of the Year Names Grobman One of Four National Winners Dr. Laurie Grobman, Professor of English and Women's Studies at Penn State Berks, will be recognized as one of the "best" in American higher education when she is named "Outstanding Baccalaureate College Professor of the Year." She is one of four national winners of the 2014 U.S. Professors of the Year awards who will be honored on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at a luncheon and awards ceremony at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Senator Argall to host first-ever Berks County ‘Senator for a Day’

Senator David G. Argall (R-29) will host his first-ever Berks County 'Senator for a Day' event at Penn State Berks on Wednesday, November 19. Argall, who will begin representing the western portion of Berks County effective on December 1 as part of the constitutionally-mandated reapportionment process, is eager to start off the program that has gained popularity among school districts in Schuylkill County.

HASS Colloquium slated for Nov. 14

The upcoming Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS) Colloquium will feature two separate presentations: one titled "Learning about the Vietnam War through Conversations with Veterans" and another titled "A Communications Plan for the Health and Wellness Expo." The colloquium will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014, from 1:00-2:20 p.m. in room 104 of the Franco Building. This presentation focuses on pedagogy and student research/projects.

Students travel to Philadelphia to study history and hauntings

Fifteen Penn State Berks students enrolled in the college's Applied Psychology, Communication Arts and Sciences, and Global Studies courses got a lesson in fear when they traveled with Dr. Eric Lindsey, Professor of Psychology, and Dr. Cheryl L. Nicholas, Associate Professor of Communication Arts and Sciences, to Philadelphia on October 24, 2014, to participate in the "Grim Philly Twilight Tour," a walking tour of the city.

Inspirational teacher to speak about Sandy Hook tragedy

Kaitlin Roig, a first grade teacher at Sandy Hook Elementary, will share her personal account of the Sandy Hook tragedy, on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at 7:30 p.m. in Perkins Student Center Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

Communication Day Symposium discusses career pathways on Nov. 11

The Penn State Berks Communication Arts & Sciences (CAS) program will host Communication Day, featuring a symposium titled "What's Your Pathway?" on Tuesday, November 11, 2014, from 3-4:30 p.m. in the Freyberger Gallery, located in the Perkins Center. This event is free and open to the campus community. 

Theatre Department presents “Detroit”

Berks Degree Fair promotes academic programs

Penn State Berks will hold a Degree Fair for currently enrolled students on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, from 1-2:30 p.m. in Tully's. Students attending the fair will receive a coupon for a free lunch on the day they attend and they will be able to enter their names in a drawing for a grand prize.

Global Studies students complete internship in India

Two Penn State Berks Global Studies majors had the experience of a lifetime when they completed an internship at Social Change and Development (SCAD), a nonprofit non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering the marginalized communities in Tamil Nadu, India during the spring semester of 2014.
